Sew the sole to the leg and remove the tacking stitches. Pin and tack the oval sole to the bottom of the foot before stitching around the rest of the leg, leaving a 4cm gap in the back. Fold in the raw edges of the gap and slip stitch closed.Ĥ Pair up the legs, right sides together, and stitch up from the toe front to the top of the leg. Open out and press before pinning to the outer arms. Turn out through the gap, stuff, fold in the raw edges of the gap, then slip stitch closed.ģ Pin the paw pads right sides together to the inner arms and stitch. Pin the raw edges of the back to the front and stitch all around. Repeat for the body back pieces, leaving a 6cm gap in the centre of the back seam for turning out. Trace each template onto the wrong side of the fabric and cut out with a 5mm seam allowance.Ģ Pair up the front body pieces and sew together down the front seam. Wash, unpick and press your baby clothes, then arrange the pieces you want to use. The simplicity in the body would be a great starting point for beginners.1 Download and print the templates at .uk/templates. This is also a great free pattern to test out if you are interested in making memory bears. After a few, you may even figure out ways that you would adjust the pattern and look of your bears to make them your own. You will find that with each one, they will get easier and easier. Use some practice fabric until you feel more comfortable. Do not anticipate that one being a work of art, anticipate it being a learning curve so you can figure out what works best for you in making the next one. If you are a newbie to sewing and decide you want to try this out, let me give you some of my advice… Your first one will be a learning experience. However, I think a beginner can tackle this! Taking it ONE step at a time of course. This tutorial does a fantastic job breaking the process down step by step with images that can help you as you follow along. There are a lot of steps that could be a bit tricky. It is mentioned in the tutorial, and I would like to reiterate that this is not necessarily a beginner project. Eeeek!
